East St Helen

East St Helen Street

The area sitting behind the County Hall was, even in 1914, an area of older housing but also included some prestigious housing like Twickenham House. There were more business premises than there are today including a coal merchant, clothing factory and some manufacturing using the Ock as a water supply and as an outlet for their waste. For detailed information about the houses and streets go to the AAAHS Buildings and People website.
